The 2025 State of Mental Health report was released by Mental Health America on October 1, 2025.  Nevada's overall ranking is 51 out of 50 states and the District of Columbia.  It is interesting to note the measures that had the largest effect on Nevada's ranking were youth with a major depressive episode in the past year (22.63%, ranked 50), adults with substance use disorder (22.45%, ranked 46), and the percentage of youth ages 12-17 who did not receive any preventive care in the past year (37.9%, ranked 51).  Of the 17 measures that contribute to the overall ranking, the measure regarding preventive care for youth was only added this year.  Also, Nevada ranked 34 for mental health workforce availability and 47 for access to care.

We must remember that Nevada has made significant progress in many behavioral health areas with some transformative work taking place across our state.  It is imperative that we continue to work together to move Nevada forward and improve our rankings.  The primary reason the Behavioral Health Association of Nevada (BHAN) was launched as a statewide nonprofit was to help break down silos in the professional community and create an organization that is inclusive of everyone who works in behavioral health, as well as our allies, to focus on policy and funding.  Together For Nevada!
