2026 Behavioral Health Conference
CONFERENCE PURPOSE:
Hosted by the Bureau of Behavioral Health Wellness and Prevention
(BBHWP), this conference serves as an opportunity to bring together
behavioral health providers and key partners from across Nevada’s
behavioral health system.
The conference will provide education, training, and networking
opportunities designed to strengthen workforce capacity, promote
evidence-based and promising practices, encourage cross-system
collaboration, and support the continued development of an integrated
behavioral health system that improves outcomes for all Nevadans.
CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES:
• Provide key updates and inspire engagement around the BBHWP 2025–2030 Strategic Plan
• Foster meaningful collaboration and networking among behavioral health professionals across disciplines
• Support professional growth through practical, relevant learning opportunities

2 Day Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Process in Clinical Practice

Two-day (Friday 4/17-Saturday 4/18) intermediate level continuing education workshop with expert ACT trainer Dr. Robyn Walser.
Workshop Overview
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based approach that teaches patients to embrace difficult thoughts and emotions rather than struggling against them. By learning to observe thoughts without judgment and committing to value-driven actions, patients develop psychological flexibility to navigate life's challenges and create a more fulfilling, meaningful existence. In this training participants will have the opportunity to hone their therapeutic ACT skills with an expert trainer—Dr. Robyn Walser in a two day workshop. This is going to be an intermediate training, but beginners are welcome.

Partner Organization - Life After Loss program

This is a free two-day virtual summit from the Center for Applied Research Solutions on their “Life After Loss” program to help support professionals and advocates working with children who are suffering from grief. This will be a great opportunity to learn and gain professional support.

Behavioral Health Day at the Nevada Legislature
Sponsored by the Behavioral Health Association of Nevada (BHAN) at the Nevada State Capitol on February 25, 2025. BHAN planned the event to network with legislators, raise more awareness about behavioral health and to demonstrate that BHAN is a united group inclusive of everyone who works in or supports behavioral health in Nevada. BHAN had strong representation from the southern, northern and rural areas of Nevada. Meetings were held throughout the day with legislators to discuss behavioral health issues and potential bills to consider. BHAN was also recognized on the Nevada Senate Floor.

We spend so much time discussing challenges with access to care and funding, but we need to take a moment to network with each other and celebrate all of the great work that is taking place across Nevada. I have been sharing for the last 18 months that BHAN was established to be inclusive of anyone who works in behavioral health policy, funding and/or treatment programs/services as well as our many allies who may not work directly in behavioral health but support our efforts. BHAN's goal is to become a collective voice for all to help advance behavioral health in our great state.

Nevada's DPBH - 988 System Press Conference
Nevada's Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) is formally announcing their new branding and PR for our 988 system in the state. They will be holding a press conference tomorrow, May 28, at 11:00 a.m. to share details. If you will be in Northern Nevada and would like to attend the press conference, you may register at the link below. We will also forward the new branding details once they are available. For those of you on Behavioral Health Association of Nevada's listserv who may not be aware, Nevada 988 is Nevada's 24/7 resource with trained counselors who provide immediate support for emotional and mental health issues as well as alcohol and drug issues.
